Remember Drox Operative, that spaceship ARPG that has you advancing the stake of the Droxs within your given sector? Well it seems there’s still yet more work to be done in the galaxy, as Sodak Entertainment has announced the first expansion for the game. Time to break out those hotbars and call your friends.

Going by Drox Operative: Invasion of the Ancients, this full-fledged expansion centres on the return of a certain race. They’re not here to catch up over scones and tea, so it’s time to sortie that ship of yours and fend off the next existential threat on the list. If you haven’t played the base game then you might want to be wary around the description since it carries a spoiler, but just know that there’ll be lots of new stuff in this affordable update. Stuff like a new race, new quests, new monsters and pretty much everything else that’s expected to be new when it comes to expansions.

It’s currently at the pre-order price of US$8.99, which is 10% cheaper than release and will also let you in on the beta. And in a move that’s pretty much rare in the world of digital video games, Soldak are offering a 30-day money back guarantee if, for some confound reason, you don’t like the game. There’s a free demo available which I’ve tried and enjoyed (yes, haven’t gotten around to buying it) so there’s really no reason for you to resort to using it. I do have to say that the naming is a little unfortunate, however. Anything ending with “of the Ancients’ now reminds me of a certain game published by Valve that involves heroes, towers and lots of cussing.

Drox Operative: Invasion of the Ancients releases in the third quarter of 2013 for PC and Mac.
