Ian Livingstone has been given the title of CBE — Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire —  after serving over 30 years in the games industry. He is the co-founder of Games Workshop, co-creator of the Fighting Fantasy books and life president of Eidos Interactive. This follows his appointment as OBE (Officer) in 2006.

“I’m unbelievably happy, proud and delighted to be in the New Year Honours list to be appointed CBE. And it’s my birthday today too!” tweeted Livingstone on 29 December.

Now at the age of 64, he has and still is a large influence on games. Last year he released his latest choose-your-adventure book, Blood of the Zombies, while also co-authoring Next Gen, a report that helped convince the UK government to revamp programming classes in schools.
